Stora Enso CLT
Cross-laminated timber (CLT) — a solid engineered wood panel of at least three cross-bonded layers of PEFC/FSC spruce, used for walls, floors and roofs in mass-timber buildings. Strong, prefabricated and dimensionally stable, it stores biogenic carbon so its product-stage footprint is strongly negative.

Product Evidence
Evidence currently held for the Stora Enso product record.
Recorded Carbon Result
A1–A3 GWP-total per m³, incl. biogenic carbon stored in the timber (EN 15804+A2), per EPD
A1–A3 covers raw-material supply, transport to manufacture and manufacturing. It is product-stage information, not a whole-life result.

Third-party verified (International EPD System). Declared per 1 m³; GWP-total A1–A3 is strongly negative because EN 15804+A2 counts the biogenic carbon stored in the timber. C3 (+782) is the incineration end-of-life scenario releasing that stored carbon; D (−268) is the energy-recovery credit.

Service Life — the B4 Replacement Input
50 years · EPD reference service life
≈2 installations over a 60-year building study period.
2 claims and 2 certifications are held in the staging record but not presented as product evidence because an exact public source has not yet been mapped.
Comparison Status
This result should be displayed for information only and not ranked against another product.
- • The PCR and version are missing.
- • The GWP indicator is missing.
- • The carbon result is not linked to an evidence source.
- • The EPD is not linked to an evidence source.
Evidence Gaps
- •2 sustainability claims are withheld because exact public evidence is not mapped.
- •2 certifications are withheld because exact public evidence is not mapped.
Design & Specification Notes
Qualitative notes for early design discussion. Not product-specific EPD evidence, and not a basis for numerical comparison.
Cross-laminated timber (CLT) — a solid engineered wood panel of at least three cross-bonded layers of PEFC/FSC spruce, used for walls, floors and roofs in mass-timber buildings.
Typical Uses
- •Primary frame
- •Long-span elements
- •Load-bearing supports
Key Performance
High load-bearing capacity for primary frame.
Specification Actions
- •Confirm FSC or PEFC certification for all timber products.
- •Request chain-of-custody documentation from supplier.
- •Confirm the current EPD covers the selected product, finish and manufacturing route.
Indicative Health & Indoor Air
Solid timber panel; verify adhesive/formaldehyde class and any surface treatment for exposed interior use.
