GreenCoat Colour-Coated Steel

SSAB’s colour-coated steel for roofs and facades — the GreenCoat brand — declared across the blast-furnace-based range at 2.49 kgCO2e/kg. The coating is SSAB’s Bio-based Technology, substituting rapeseed oil for much of the fossil solvent, chromate-free and lead-free. The number to hold against it is 1.1: the identical coating on SSAB Zero recycled steel, recorded separately, because the substrate — not the coating — is where the carbon lives.

Recorded Carbon Result

2.49kgCO₂e/kg

A1–A3 GWP-total per kg of coated product. Covers all GreenCoat and SSAB colour-coated blast-furnace-based steels — the standard product. The recycled SSAB Zero substrate is declared separately at 1.1 kgCO2e/kg and recorded as its own material. Module D declares -1.49 kgCO2e/kg of recycling credit separately. Compare per kg only against other coil products — per-m² depends on gauge and profile.

Indicator: GWP-total

A1–A3 covers raw-material supply, transport to manufacture and manufacturing. It is product-stage information, not a whole-life result.
