Pattern-making is the cost and the lead time on a first run. Repeat pours from an existing pattern are comparatively quick
End Of Life

Screw-fixed and removable whole; copper alloys hold high scrap value and are recycled rather than landfilled
Maintenance: Left to patina, or polished on a cycle. Repairable and re-castable from the original pattern

Read This Honestly
- •Melting and pouring is high-temperature work on metal that already carries its smelting energy. Bespoke does not mean low-impact.
- •Fire doors and escape routes need certified ironmongery. A bespoke casting cannot be substituted onto a tested door set.
- •Colour and patina vary between pours. Order a full set at once if consistency matters.

The pattern is the specified article. Once it exists the foundry can pour again, which is what separates a bespoke casting from a one-off — and what makes the pattern worth keeping.

- •Ask the foundry for the alloy specification and its recycled content; copper alloys routinely carry high scrap fractions.
- •Agree the finish explicitly — unlacquered will patina, lacquered will wear through unevenly, and the difference is not reversible after installation.
- •Keep the pattern with the building record; it is what allows a matching replacement in twenty years.
Indicative Health & Indoor Air
Inert in place. Unlacquered copper alloys develop a patina that transfers to the hand at first; this is expected and not a hazard.
