K-BRIQ

A standard-format brick that is never fired. Made by compression from more than 96% recycled construction, demolition and excavation waste — old brick, rubble and mortar, recycled plasterboard gypsum, and recycled pigments — and cured at low temperature instead of taken to 1,000°C in a kiln. Firing is where almost all of a clay brick’s carbon sits, which is why Kenoteq quote under 20 g CO₂e a brick. A Heriot-Watt spin-out; the colour names are Edinburgh ones. Supplied solid or perforated, in twelve pigment colours rather than the fired clay palette.

Evidence Base

No declaration yet

Kenoteq has not published an EPD or a quantified carbon figure for this product, so nothing on this card is numerical. The guidance below is qualitative — drawn from the product record and curated category knowledge — for early design discussion, not for figures.

No published EPD as of 2026-08-06. Kenoteq state that third-party certification with BRE has been initiated and that an Environmental Product Declaration was "expected later in 2025"; nothing is published yet. The product does carry a BBA Agrément certificate (25/7367) and ISO 9001:2015, which certify fitness and quality management, not environmental impact — they are not a substitute for a declaration.

Next step: request a current product EPD or manufacturer carbon declaration.
