Longley Wide Floor Beam

A prestressed concrete beam for beam-and-block ground floors — the ordinary suspended floor of UK housebuilding, laid at centres to suit the span and infilled with blocks. Wide beam, 175 mm. Made by Longley Concrete Ltd, a trading entity within the Ibstock group. Its declaration puts production at 227 kgCO2e per tonne, and the interesting part is where that sits: almost all of it is A3 (209), the casting and steam-curing, rather than raw material supply — which is where a low-carbon binder would bite.
