GrafClean Matt

The washable end of the range — a matt for corridors, schools and anywhere a lime paint would not survive being scrubbed. Still breathable and still carrying the graphene mesh, but formulated for durability rather than for maximum lime content, and the trade-off shows up in the declaration: no carbonation credit and a higher production figure than Ecosphere.

Recorded Carbon Result

0.241kgCO₂e/m²

A1–A3 GWP-total per m² at two coats, per this product group’s results table. This product group is declared with B1 = 0: it does not take up CO₂ in use. Counting every declared module the whole-life total is +0.279 kgCO2e/m².

Indicator: GWP-total

A1–A3 covers raw-material supply, transport to manufacture and manufacturing. It is product-stage information, not a whole-life result.

Group declaration covering GrafClean, GrafClean Eggshell, GrafClean Midshine and GCS Exterior. This group is declared with no carbonation credit. The EPD restricts the CO₂-fixing effect to a named list of lime references, and none of the GrafClean products appears on it. The EPD declares seventeen Graphenstone references across several result groups; only this group’s table has been used here. Primary data is from the Seville factory, 2019.

* A4/A5 are EPD scenarios, not project-specific results. Module D is outside the A–C system boundary and is not added to A–C. Module nomenclature follows BS EN 15978 / EN 15804. Declared values are suitable as inputs to a whole life carbon assessment under the RICS Professional Standard (2nd edition); this panel is not an assessment.

* Includes the EPD’s A4/A5 scenario assumptions, not project-specific transport or installation. This is the aggregation the proposed Part Z applies upfront limits to. The A1–A3 figure includes declared biogenic storage of 0.00613 kgCO₂e; Part Z aggregates upfront carbon excluding sequestered carbon, which is the assessor's adjustment to make.

Service Life — the B4 Replacement Input

10 years · EPD reference service life

The EPD declares a 10-year reference service life with no maintenance, repair or replacement in that period. Repainting cycles dominate the whole-life carbon of any paint — three repaints over 30 years costs three times A1–A3, and a carbonation credit does not accrue on a surface that has been painted over.

≈6 installations over a 60-year building study period.

B4 (replacement) follows the building, not the product: an assessor multiplies replacement cycles by project quantities. This record supplies the service life and does not compute B4.
