Ecosphere

An interior matt made from slaked lime with a graphene mesh through it, the graphene doing the job a polymer binder would in a conventional emulsion — holding the film together without sealing it. Vapour-permeable, so it suits solid walls and lime plaster where a modern acrylic would trap moisture. It takes up CO₂ as the lime carbonates, which the EPD declares as a negative use-stage module rather than leaving as a marketing claim.

Graphenstone

Recorded Carbon Result

0.178kgCO₂e/m²

A1–A3 GWP-total per m² at two coats, per this product group’s results table. Lime carbonation is declared separately as a negative use-stage module, B1 = -0.0483 kgCO2e/m², which offsets about 27% of production. Counting every declared module the whole-life total is +0.163 kgCO2e/m² — lower than production alone, but positive.

Indicator: GWP-total

A1–A3 covers raw-material supply, transport to manufacture and manufacturing. It is product-stage information, not a whole-life result.

Group declaration covering Ecosphere, Siena, Biosphere and AmbientPro+ (White and Colour). Ecosphere white and Siena are declared as having identical composition. Biosphere is the exterior equivalent. The EPD declares seventeen Graphenstone references across several result groups; only this group’s table has been used here. Primary data is from the Seville factory, 2019.

* Includes the EPD’s A4/A5 scenario assumptions, not project-specific transport or installation. This is the aggregation the proposed Part Z applies upfront limits to. The A1–A3 figure includes declared biogenic storage of 0.00548 kgCO₂e; Part Z aggregates upfront carbon excluding sequestered carbon, which is the assessor's adjustment to make.

Service Life — the B4 Replacement Input

10 years · EPD reference service life

The EPD declares a 10-year reference service life with no maintenance, repair or replacement in that period. Repainting cycles dominate the whole-life carbon of any paint — three repaints over 30 years costs three times A1–A3, and a carbonation credit does not accrue on a surface that has been painted over.

≈6 installations over a 60-year building study period.

B4 (replacement) follows the building, not the product: an assessor multiplies replacement cycles by project quantities. This record supplies the service life and does not compute B4.
